Dangerous Structures

We have experience of investigating trench collapses and the failure of temporary works. We have investigated accidents involving the use or misuse of construction plant and equipment or where failure has occurred.

We have undertaken structural surveys of industrial and domestic properties and regularly advise on the causes of subsidence damage as well as remedial works carried out by others. We carry out dampness surveys and investigate incidents related to the provision of gas or electric services. We investigate causes of carbon monoxide poisoning such as faulty or poorly installed gas appliances. We also investigate flooding of properties owing to the failure of drainage systems.

At Waldeck we understand that stability of a structure is essential throughout the construction process and our experienced structural engineers have the knowledge and experience to find the best solution.

We have been employed by a number of local authorities who are required under the Building Act to take the appropriate action if they suspect that a building has become dangerous. Most of our experience here lies with vehicle impacts into buildings, explosions, fire, DIY gone wrong and the prevalence of significant rot and infestation so destabilising floors and roofs that restrain the outer walls too.

So if you are a landlord or property owner and have concerns, or if you are a local authority and need an opinion on enforcement action and the immediate minimum measures to protect the public, we can act for you. If it is possible economically we can help you to safeguard the property from total loss and of course if you are insurers then we can help you with the swift value analysis as to the viability of undertaking a remediation solution and move that forward for you if it is viable.
