There are a wide range of opportunities for producing electricity from solar photovoltaics (PV) on farms which can provide additional income as well as reducing farm emissions.
PV cells convert daylight into electricity and are not dependant on the power of the sun. They make excellent use of existing farm roofs therefore not requiring any additional storage. By using a mixture of renewable technologies it can provide light and power to farm dwellings and buildings or power pumps to supply water to livestock.

Solar Photovoltaic’s (PV) – “Clean Energy Cash back”
What is it?

Introduced in April 2010 the Clean Energy Cash back or more commonly known as Feed in Tariffs (FITS) is the main source of financial funding for small scale renewables in the UK and although it covers large scale projects it was specifically designed for the domestic market.

You will be paid by your electricity company for generating electricity, you will not have to purchase electricity from your current supplier and if you have excess it will automatically be sold back to the grid. Also for domestic generators the income is tax free.

There are also further grants available through Local authorises, Rural Development Programme, DEADER, Natural England, ECA scheme and many others.
