Research and Development

Waldeck takes a great deal from the best of other industries, often Great British industries. We are proud of our nation’s credentials as a land of invention and innovation whether looking back to the greats of the Industrial Revolution or more recently, to the development of something that may catch on called the Internet by Tim Berners-Lee!

We have often been the envy of the world as a land of inventors and innovators, we have world-leading companies and industries and we can do so much more in the construction and property industry too. Waldeck does not take the norm as the default position and just because some may say it has always been done that way, that doesn’t mean that it’s the best way.

We are outward looking, our ‘radar’ is always on to find better a way. Waldeck invests significant amounts of time and money in research & development to identify and develop new products, initiatives, ways of doing things and even adapting existing technologies for other applications.

We are particularly succesful in the ‘off-site manufacture’ sector which  will become more and more important to the property and construction industries in the times to come as the economy recovers. This niche sector has a massive contribution to make to the commercial success of construction and property  for cost and time certainty, quality and sustainability benefits too. We have developed new products for schools, high and low rise residential, hotels, prisons, environment, student accommodation and hospitals, many of which are industry firsts, and we are proud to be recognised as one of Britain’s leading consultancies in this field of expertise.

Our team has developed our own bespoke software products and found ingenious applications for other market technologies.

Our R&D team is a key part of our success now and will continue to be so in the future to enable us to keep pushing to do our best for our clients, create new market opportunities and further enhance our innovation culture internally and reputation externally.

The team is aware of changing and evolving legislation both in the private and public sectors and as a result we are now looking at new initiatives in the energy and sustainable sectors to reduce CO2 emissions to give just one example of an important area that we are currently exploring.

Whilst we possess many office locations and niche business units, we act as one. The company shares knowledge, ideas, best practice, skills and resource in order to deliver progressive improvement with internal research & development. Specialists within the Waldeck team are available to deliver free seminars and workshops as part of CPD on a variety of subjects, so please do get in touch.

  • “We requested Waldeck provide the Field Design Team with the expertise required to adapt the initial French design to UK standards and construction methods.“They have given the team excellent support during the constantly evolving construction process on this challenging project. Their positive approach is helping to deliver a major project with innovative and economic design solutions.”

  • “We first appointed Waldeck as our engineer in 2003 when considering a new facility in Tamworth – the project cost being around £10 million.“They were exceptionally helpful with design ideas and very proactive in recommending potential alternatives, some alternatives owing to visual appearance and others owing to economic or practical reasons.“They are accurate with drawings and specifications, offering support as necessary. They are also very good at negotiating the planning approval process and overcoming the majority of obstacles that inevitably arise.“We have now worked with Waldeck on a further three projects, with combined project costs of c£20 million, and have commenced work with them on a fourth project with an estimated cost of £11 million.“We find them open, honest and easy to work with.”
