Re engineering Laboratories

Waldeck’s Technical Steering Group also has a major contributing responsibility to ensure that we are consistently producing the best products that we can. The group is tasked with scrutinising this in a scientific way, just like a laboratory would. The result is that we are driving continuous improvement through proper analysis and so we can re-engineer methodology, systems or even just constituent parts to ensure that we are creating and processing best product, in the best way.

All company projects are transparently available for internal audit, irrespective of size, at any stage in the process but obviously we always have a laboratory at the outset to establish and agree the optimum way forward. For larger, long-term projects, there may be several laboratory tests in the duration.

There are not many worlds quite as commercially challenging as being a contractor or sub-contractor in the construction industry. We are often employed by them at tender stage to help find angles and to help find margin. There is rarely anything wrong with the designs and specifications that we see but there are often other ways, other solutions and our team provides re-engineering laboratories to re-assess our client contractor’s tenders and generate alternative bid solutions.

We have numerous examples where our client contractor may have sat in a fair position post tender based upon the compliant submission but actually secured the contract with an alternative bid solution with the help of Waldeck’s Re-engineering Laboratories and secured margin in the process.

We often hear the phrase “Value Engineering” or “VE”, which is fine at one level. But if one operates and thrives in a culture of innovation and invention, one that invests in R&D, invests in serious technology and scrutinises people, processes and products as if under a laboratory microscope in order to re-engineer the norm, this represents true value at another level.
