The team at Waldeck in Peterborough, which has more than quadrupled in size since the office was set up in 2007, celebrated moving to bigger premises recently with an opening party.

Chairman of the Peterborough Chamber of Commerce Iain Crighton was one of the guests invited to take a tour of the new office in Cross Street Court and performed the official ribbon cutting ceremony.

“I often hear about how challenging life is for the business community at the moment and so it is enormously uplifting to see Waldeck expanding,” said Iain.

“Waldeck is a shining example of a business which has got it right. The company has consistently bucked the trend in a difficult sector thanks to the exceptional leadership of Paul Waldeck and the talent and commitment of his team.

“The latest accolade has been to win the Builer & Engineer’s Consulting Engineer of the Year Award and so I’m delighted and honoured to have been invited to officially open their new premises.

“Peterborough is an excellent city to live and work in and we need successful companies like Waldeck to be based here. Congratulations to Paul and the team!”

Waldeck, which has nine offices across the UK in total, set up its Peterborough office four years ago with three members of staff.

Today it has 20 employees who are working on some major projects including a £210 million Ocado distribution centre in Dordon, North Warwickshire and an £11 million extension to the Queensgate Shopping Centre in Peterborough which will house retail giant Primark’s new 60,000 ft² store.

Waldeck, whose head office is based in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, is also moving its new Mechanical and Engineering Consultancy Department from Sleaford to Peterborough.

Waldeck Director Paul Housego said the expansion is down to hard work and creativity.

“Waldeck has built up a considerable presence in Peterborough over the last four years,” he explained.

“Since the recession we have faced some really tough challenges but our innovative approach, our passion for what we do and our commercial acumen has helped us to succeed. We are delighted to be making a further commitment to the city by moving to larger premises.”
